We're thrilled to announce a significant update to our Custom Content feature, with improvements that directly address your feedback and needs. These enhancements will make creating, organizing, and managing your custom lessons easier and more intuitive than ever before.
What's Changed?
Our Custom Content area has received a comprehensive overhaul, with several key improvements:
Sortable Custom Content - You Asked, We Delivered!
The star of this update is the introduction of sortable custom content. We've heard from many teachers that this feature was crucial, and we're excited to deliver it. You can now easily drag and drop to reorder your custom content, giving you complete control over how your lessons are presented. This order will be reflected throughout the teacher portal and for your students, allowing you to create a perfectly tailored learning experience.
New Publishing Options
We've replaced the "Visible" and "Hidden" options with more intuitive "Draft" and "Published" statuses. This change clarifies that saving as a draft means the content is globally unavailable until you choose to publish it.
Improved Content Management for Admins
District and School Admin-created Custom Lessons now appear at the top of the Custom Content page. Only admins have the ability to sort these items, ensuring better organization and control.
Cleaner Interface
We've streamlined the curriculum tags to reduce visual clutter on each custom content listing. The page layout has also been improved, with a clearer "Create Custom Content" action button and the addition of a "Watch Tutorial" video link for creating custom content.
Automatic Enablement of New Content
We've addressed a common pain point: newly created custom content is now automatically enabled for classes using that curriculum. In the past, if you'd disabled even one piece of custom content in a class's settings, new custom content wouldn't be automatically turned on for that class. This update saves you time and reduces the risk of overlooking new content.
On-Screen Keyboard Option for Custom Typing Tests
For custom typing tests, you now have the option to allow the on-screen keyboard to be visible for your students. This added flexibility lets you tailor the testing experience to your students' needs.
Where Can I Find It?
These improvements are available in the Custom Content section of your Teacher Portal. Look for the new sorting functionality, the updated "Draft" and "Published" options when creating or editing content, and the on-screen keyboard toggle for custom typing tests.
How Does It Help Me?
These updates offer several benefits:
-
Customized Lesson Flow: The highly-requested sorting feature allows you to arrange your custom content in the order that makes the most sense for your curriculum, enhancing your students' learning experience.
-
Increased Clarity: The new draft/published system makes it clearer when content is ready for student use.
-
Time-Saving: Automatic enablement of newly created custom content for relevant classes saves you time and reduces oversights.
-
Improved User Experience: A cleaner interface and more intuitive controls make managing custom content quicker and easier.
-
Customizable Testing: The option to show or hide the on-screen keyboard for custom typing tests allows for more tailored assessment experiences.
We're confident these improvements, especially the new sorting capability, will significantly enhance your experience with Custom Content. This update is a direct result of your feedback, making our Custom Content feature an even more powerful tool for tailoring your typing curriculum to your students' needs. Thank you for helping us improve, and happy teaching!
