What’s New?

This feature offers two powerful tools to help teachers manage student performance:

• Automatic Grading: Assigns letter grades or numeric scores (0–100) based on student performance in lessons and quizzes.

• Benchmarks: Sets minimum accuracy and words per minute (WPM) requirements, ensuring students achieve a defined skill level before advancing to the next lesson.

These tools can be applied to entire classes or customized for individual students, making them ideal for tailoring your curriculum to meet your teaching goals.

How Does It Work?

Setting Up Automatic Grading

1. Navigate to the Classes page and select the class you’d like to configure.

2. On the class dashboard, click the Gear icon to open Class Settings, then select the Grading tab.

3. Choose your grading style:

   • Letter Grades or Numeric Scores (0–100).

4. For Typing Lessons, select whether to grade by Accuracy or Speed, and define your Perfect and Lowest values. The grading table will update to show how scores map to the grades you’ve chosen.

5. Exclude specific grades by clicking the red X next to any grade in the table (e.g., assigning a "D minus" instead of an "F").

6. For Digital Literacy Lessons, adjust quiz-based grades by setting the Perfect and Lowest percentage scores.

Setting Up Benchmarks

1. In the same Grading tab, locate the Benchmarks section.

2. Configure your benchmarks:

   • Screen Completion Requirements: Set minimum accuracy and WPM levels students must meet to proceed. For example, a high accuracy requirement ensures students master typing fundamentals before advancing.

   • Star Requirements: Define accuracy thresholds for earning 2 or 3 stars on typing lessons.

3. Remember, benchmarks apply only to typing lessons—not to timed tests or tech literacy lessons.

4. When you’re finished, click Save All Changes at the top right. You can also adjust these settings for individual students in their Student Settings.
